Travel is a tool of expansion

During my recent travels I felt deeply connected to the landscape of Southern England and to the ancestors of the land, no doubt distant relations of my own, who built the stone circles there. I felt the wisdom of the trees and heard the language of the birds. I was struck by the beauty of the flowers as they burst forth in various shapes and colors and scents...and whispered their sweet nothings to me. I luxuriated in the melodious trickling of the spring waters as I felt them refreshing me, cleansing me, gifting me with knowledge.

I saw myself in new light, both metaphorically and literally. Honestly, I did not always like what I saw ( I had no idea I looked so old!), but I am grateful for the awareness and the opportunity to continue to practice self-acceptance and compassion. I am grateful for the level of presence that I witnessed in myself; simply being in the moment and accepting myself and others with loving neutrality.

Travel allows us to not only explore landscapes and cultures, but also our relationship to the world around us in a whole new context. It allows us to witness aspects of ourselves shifting with the scenery. It allows us to discover more of who we truly are and even allows us to evaluate our relationship with ourselves.

Travel is a tool of expansion.
